Carlos Magaña

Carlos Magaña has built the winery with his son Juan and his daughter Edurne after a very long and ilusionating walk around wine. This fact has been one of the most important goals. Carlos Magaña comes from a wine grower family with an outstanding experience. He is an oenologist, pioneer in many aspects and innovator in all he does. When he was a young student he went to Burdeos in order to specialize in viticulture.

He bases his work on the conviction that wine is made in the vineyard, because of that he placed particular attention on applying new changes in the vine growing, pruning and establishment of the espalier vineyard when most of vines were in vase. He also introduced new technologies in plantations with grafts as in plan pot as in bare root, winning a prize in Fima 76 thanks to the use of that advanced technology. At the same time, Carlos is employed as an expert in international technical cooperation to communicate his knowledge and experience to other countries.

In 1998, he purchases the bodega of Cáseda to establish his own bodega of family. Nowadays, Carlos Magaña starts a new way together with his children, offering them the experience background and sharing his hopes in a specific project: Create a wine of a new generation, being different and with a style and an author label. A wine which will become in Melius when it reaches its full development..
